LOOK WHOSE DECIDED TO DIP THEIR STICK INTO THE PORN INDUSTRY!!!

It’s just sad to see the lengths that celebrities will go to remain relevant within their industry. For weeks the internet has been a buzz about Brandy’s little brother, Ray J and common girl socialite, Kim Kardashian.

Though both publicly denied the reports, it was finally announced today, by Vivid Entertainment, that they in fact have the tape, and paid a staggering 1 million dollars to distribute it.

My partner in crime, Sohh Soulman, broke the word today on his Sohh Soulful Blog.

Vivid Entertainment released the following statement:

"We are comfortable that we have the legal right to distribute this video, despite what others may say," says Mr. Hirsch, Vivid's co-chairman.

"I've seen the video and it's really great. It has over 30-minutes of explicit sex that fans of erotica will find very appealing featuring two young and glamorous high profile celebrities. Apparently, the video was shot by Ray J about three years ago when he and Kim were in a relationship. The production is crystal clear and viewers will definitely get their money's worth. If either Kim or Ray J would like to discuss the video with us we would be happy to do so."

This is a blatant example of how our society has shifted from sensational to scandalous. With all these celebrity porn tapes saturating the adult film market (Eve, Paris Hilton, Benzino, R. Kelly, Dustin Diamond, etc) it seems that porn is the “new” way of reclaiming fleeting careers and remaining the talk of the town.

It’s just sad! With Brandy’s recent fatal car accident, and Ray-J’s “Spice Channel” aspirations, Sonia, their manager, is going to have to work double time to try and salvage the Norwood name.

Could Oprah’s produced Broadway play be hitting the road soon? That’s what my girl juicy news is reporting on her site. According to the NY Post:

Weekly grosses have dipped below $500,000, which means the show is running at a loss. For most of last year, "The Color Purple" was taking in nearly $1 million a week at the box office.

Firstly, I have to admit that I am not all that surprised. While I have seen this miraculous play twice I didn’t see it having long run on Broadway. At the end of the day it is still a black play, and after the initial excitement wore off I can see how people could possibly view the hit Broadway production as more of a novelty then a long running, sold out performance piece. If you can’t make it to the big apple to check it out, it might be coming to a city near you. Usually Broadway shows start to lose steam they hit the road. FULL STORY

HIP-HOP IS ABOUT TO BE "OUTED"!!!!!

Radaronline.com has broken, which I’m assuming will be one of the biggest stories of the year. Former MTV producer Terrance Dean has written a memoir titled Hiding in Hip-Hop: Confessions of a Down Low Brother in the Entertainment Industry, which will chronicle "the author's life as a closeted homosexual working in the film and music industry and his relationships with other closeted homosexuals—film stars, rap artists, and music producers,"

Author Terrance Dean is a former MTV producer and the founder of something called Men's Empowerment, a New York-based non-profit directed at helping men of color. When reached by phone, Dean declined to discuss the book, but a spokeswoman for the publisher said it will identify Dean's closeted exes without naming them. "Let's put it this way: You'll know who they are," she promised. "It's a no-holds- barred look at Hollywood and hip-hop and who's living on the down-low."

This new book that was purchased last week by publishing company Atria books, who is owned by Simon & Schuster, is destined to send shock waves through the extremely homophobic Hip-Hop industry. Every since popular radio personality, and resident loud mouth Wendy Williams (WBLS) ignited gay rumors back in 1994, gossip has run absolutely rampant about our most beloved and famous rap stars.

To some, hip-hop is displayed as a gritty, misogynistic and an often times violent culture that infuses the four main elements that started off the genre in the mid 70’s –rapping (MCing), Djing (production and scratching), break dancing, and graffiti. And though staunch heterosexuality was never an “officially publicized” ingredient of the overly aggressive and blatantly masculine genre. To be perceived as anything less would most likely result in rejection, humiliation, and even bodily injury. I'm sure we can all remember how much heat Andre 3000 recieved when he started prancing around the stage with his white wig, and white fur pants.

As sensational and scandalous as this new literary project is designed to be. Many are expecting this new paperback to be one of the most purchased, and discussed books of 2007. It would seem that “confessing”— all you know these days’, equals big bucks for publishing companies (Can we say Super Head?). Which rappers/Hip-Hop industry insiders might be shaking in their boots? I’ll leave that for my favorite radio personality—Wendy Williams, to divulge. I cant wait to get my copy of this book!
