THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS ON OPRAH!!!

Oprah had a truly inspiring guest on her show last week. His name is Christopher Gardner and he is the man behind a new inspirational movie titled The Pursuit of Happyness. This film tells his life story as a struggling homeless father raising his son against staggering odds.

Christopher’s story is inspiring, buoyant, and amazing. His appearance on Oprah was ground moving as he took us all back to life living on the streets of San Francisco. He wouldn’t give up, and his determination and dedication to raising his child has made Christopher a multi-millionaire, and a prime example of what can happen to you if you just pursue your own happiness. In only a few minutes Christopher Gardner has taught me a very valuable lesson of what the purpose of life is truly all about. It is my hope he can do the same for you!

YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD TO GO OUT LIKE A SOLDIER!!!!

Talk about “Granny getting her gun”. Atlanta police have confirmed that an elderly woman was fatally shot during an exchange of gunfire with city police Tuesday night.

Family members identified the woman as 92-year-old Kathryn Johnson.

She was the only resident in the house at the time, and had lived in the house in northwest Atlanta for about 17 years, police said.

Three Atlanta narcotics officers were wounded at the home as they were serving an arrest warrant, which police said was issued for the correct address.

"It was about 7 o'clock," said Yolanda Jackson, 42. "I was sitting on my porch and I heard,

"Pow-pow-pow-pow-pow.' "A whole bunch of gunfire really fast."

The officers, whose identities were not released, suffered non-life threatening injuries when the woman opened fire from inside a home at 933 Neal St., police said.
One officer was shot in the arm, another in the shoulder and a third in the thigh, said Officer Joseph Cobb, an Atlanta police spokesman. They were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.

O1LT.COM "HOT AND BLACK" REPORT-THE GAME/JAY-Z/JENNIFER HUDSON/BLIND ITEMS!!

Two legendary rappers are about to duke it out and heat up the billboard charts. In one corner you’ve got one of the most beloved east coast rappers who, in his own way, has changed the rap game forever.

In the other corner, a west coast superstar who has proven his value to hip-hop by his ability to remain relevant in today’s ever changing music scene.

The stakes are high and everyone will be paying close attention to both of the iconic rappers record sales next week.

Well I’ll be dammed! Maybe 50 doesn’t have all the power after all because The Game made an impressive splash on the billboard charts this week after selling a staggering 380k copies. Though The Doctor’s Advocate sold a little less then expected (some media outlets reported that he was supposed to sell 500K) it’s still a great first week seeing that he didn’t have a major single to support it.

Akon, the Ohio born self proclaimed African, also had a sizeable impact on the charts this week. His new album Konvicted sold more then 286k copies. After having two smash singles with Eminem and Snoop Dogg he is almost guaranteed platinum plaque.

What’s crazy about all the success of of The Game and Akon, I couldn’t help but ask myself – “What happened to Puffy”? Diddy’s album has fallen into obscurity and my sources close to the “Diddy” are telling me that he is quite pissed at all the attention Jay-Z got with his Hangar Tour. You couldn’t buy that kind of publicity that Jay got and Puffy seems to know that (allegedly).

Next week’s releases are topped by Def Jam’s eagerly anticipated Jay-Z album, already flying out of stores, along with Geffen’s Snoop Dogg, as well as, Amaru/ Interscope’s 2Pac. It’s going to an exciting week!

Finally, Jennifer Hudson gets a record deal. But, I don’t know how I feel about her being signed to J Records? Am I the only one who could see it as a huge conflict of interest?!? American Idol, Fantasia, Rueben, and others all fall under that whole RCA/J Records umbrella. I just want my girl to blow the roof off with her vocal ability.

The American Music Awards came and went. Nothing about the award show is even worth talking about. I fell asleep watching it twice.

Here we go again!!! Meet Jessica, she is the baby that Madonna wants to adopt/buy, allegedly. She’s from Malawi, the same place where Madge adopted David Banda. She wants to adopt 18-month-old Jessica, but the problem is that an Australian couple already has dibs on her. Two Australian missionaries are afraid that their adoption plans are in jeopardy, because of Madge.

The couple said, ‘We knew Madonna was at the orphanage and she had met all the kids but we were already in the process of adopting Jessica and we hope we will be successful’.

If Madge doesn’t get Jessica, she might not have to wait long for another. David Banda’s father has remarried and his new wife is expecting their child. Madge can get this one right out of the oven! FULL STORY

Universal Music Group, the parent company of Island Def Jam, filed a lawsuit against MySpace.com's corporate parent News Corp. on Friday (Nov. 17), claiming the popular Internet site is guilty of copyright infringement.

UMG, the world's largest label, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court for California's Central District, after Jay-Z's highly anticipated come back album Kingdom Come was leaked on MySpace.com. FULL STORY

It is an honor to post my first original “Blind Item”. While Myra Panache is out of town on vacation, she selected O1LT.com to run an exclusive Blind Item for my site. Words can’t express how honored I am to even have been considered. O1LT.com has exploded over the past few months. We reported last year on this woman who is affiliated with the WNBA.

She was known to beat the hell out of her live-in girlfriend who she considered her "wifey." The beatings were severe, broken noses, ribs, and a broken jaw. She would always buy her an expensive gift to make up.

The woman finally got tired of the beatings, packed up and left. She was tracked down but she threatened her abuser with a restraining order and media attention. She backed down and moved on to another woman.

We were recently informed, two weekends ago, she put a whupping on her new lesbian lover, so severe, she was hospitalized, but she is too scared to press charges and she’s still in love with her abusive partner.

I have been doing it unofficially for a couple of weeks but, I got the call last Friday that they want me to officially take it on so there it is.

Nothing is going to change about this site. I will still bring it to you “Hot and Black” on a daily basis. But, over there I will be bringing it to you a little rougher and more hip-hop based then I do here.

O1LT.COM "HOT AND BLACK" INTERVIEW-WENDY WILLIAMS!!!!

The illustrious Wendy Williams has solidified her career among the many legends in the broadcasting industry. She's a mother, a wife, and a "friend in their heads" to millions and she’s showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. On the heels of her highly successful VH1 show —The Wendy Williams Experience, Wendy is striking while the iron is hot, which in her case has been for the past five to six years. While Wendy has been in the radio industry for 20 years now, she almost faced a career homicide when her high-octane antics on the mega popular, at the time, Hot 97 got her extradited to Power 99, in Philadelphia. However, that's all in the rear view mirror of her new White Rolls-Royce Phantom, as Wendy is about to release her second chronicle of the Ritz Harper collection—"Is the Bitch Dead or What". She is also on the cusp of releasing a major motion picture detailing her life and struggle(s) to become the "Queen of All Media".

The Wendy Williams Experience is one of the most successful radio programs in it's time slot from 2pm -6pm (7pm if you're in NYC) but, she will be the first to tell you that she doesn't do it alone. Behind her is a strong team of people that stay on their grind constantly making sure that Wendy remains majestic. From her successful radio program to her numerous literary and business ventures, Wendy has beaten the odds. Wendy is just a woman who is striving to be the best person, wife, and mother she can be, while keeping ahead in the extremely male dominated radio and television industry.

I recently caught up with Wendy in New York for a sit down conversation. If you’re one of her millions of fans then I can tell you that what you hear is certainly what you get...

O1LT: Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me to day.

O1LT: With the success of your Ritz Harper Chronicles, I understand you’re about to release the second book from that series. Is there going to be a book tour?

Wendy: Yes, there will be a book tour. The book is actually complete — which is great going into the holidays because that’s one less thing I have to think about. That’s one of the advantages of working with a writer as opposed to taking it on yourself. Which I understand why people take in on themselves because: A. you keep all the money for yourself, and B. you have control—absolute creative control. But with me and Karen Hunter, first off all Karen isn’t just a writer, she’s a Pulitzer Prize winning writer. Karen does cost a little bit more but, she’s worth it. Because “Is the Bitch Dead or What” is done!

Karen and my writing sessions are very free flowing. And once my writing session is processed on my end—finished. She goes back to her Lab top and tools it, and connects, and we have a meeting of the mind. And the next thing I know a complete manuscript is in the mail for me. I read through the manuscript and the next thing you know –“boom”, the book is bound ready to go. So I enjoy working with a writer, but that’s also because I have a day job. If I didn’t have a day job then I would probably take the time to write myself.

O1LT: So how many books will there be in this series?

Wendy: There will probably be another Ritz Harper Book. I haven’t decided that yet. This book certainly does end where there could be another one. I like the process of writing. I do want to write children’s books. Children books aren’t really…You don’t do Children’s books for money. I want to do books that cater to young black kids. You know “A Day with Daddy” or “Shaquan and His Father”. There are books out now with Sammy and his daddy – they go play basketball or whatever. But how about Shaquan has a day with daddy and Shaquan and his daddy go to the carwash — and lets be real — they get the rims shined, they get the Armor All on the tires, they go to the barber shop, they talk that talk that the black man talk. Shaquan is getting his hair cut as he watches his daddy get his hair re-braided.

There needs to be books that make sense for today’s black family. Today’s black family is a hip-hop family. I’m a mother and I work, and I can’t be there all the time. I feel guilty as a mother, so let’s stop always trying to always put it out there like its perfect —like you’re always there to read stories to your kids, and put them to bed, and make their food. We’re a mess whether they want to admit it or not. I’m here to admit it, and I want to write books that say it. But I said all that to say that I enjoy the process of writing.

O1LT: You’re a mother and wife. You’re also a “friend in their head’s to millions of fans. How do you juggle it all?

Wendy: I don’t feel as though I bite off more then I can chew. On the outside it might look that way but, by coming here to 3 Park Avenue I get my job done in a five hour period. I service my New York Tri State, which is my heart. I also service a bunch of other markets. I am the national spokesperson for Alize — right now we’re going out on a bunch of tours. My husband, Kevin, is my manager. My job is to keep my brand hot, and his job is to sell my brand to everyone else as manager. As far as our son — he kind of understands but I keep an eye on him and what’s important. I also take my me time and I rest which is separate from family — separate from career.

O1LT: So how involved are you with your show’s “The Wendy Williams Experience” on WBLS and VH1?

Wendy: Very involved! Charlamagne is my cut buddy but, it all rests on me. Prior to having “The Pink Room” and people like Tarin (Producer), Nicole (Booking Agent), Goose (Audio Engineer), Steve Lindsey (Hair and Make-Up Extraordinaire), Trev Hollywood (Production Director), and various interns to help out — I did everything. So I still have that grind experience and I’m constantly looking through my literature to find out what I am going to talk about. If by chance something where to happen with the printers not working or something like that, as you can see here (Wendy showed me mountains of paper work and magazine stories for her show) I have show prep. I also have a column in Life & Style magazine that I write weekly.

The city of Atlanta didn’t know what do with itself early Friday morning as the self proclaimed “Best Rapper Alive” touched down for his much hyped promotional tour –Hangar Tour. Fans came out in droves to watch Hov “bless” the metropolitan with his presence. Jay was supposed to the kick the tour off at 6AM but true to an entertainer it didn’t. However, the Jigga man did touch down and hit the stage. The crowd flashed diamond signs. "ATL, what's up?" Jay-Z says as he launches into a series of his hits, the crowd jumping along the way.
"First of all, y'all crazy," Jay-Z says to the crowd. "I know I'm already crazy. But y'all crazy."

He performed for about 30 minutes before leaving and hopping into a car escorted by police motorcade and loading into a luxury jet. As you all know I have a certain distain for Jay but, he did his thing and I have give credit where credit was due. Due to internet piracy I’ve heard that “Kingdome Come” will be released one day ahead of schedule—Monday November 20th. I’m anxious to see what he’s going go sale.

Could Janet possibly be pregant? Thats what my internet wag Perezhilton.com is reporting on his site. I dont have all the details as of yet, proabbly because there aren't, but the minute I know you'll know.FULL STORY

It might not be as bad as we think when it comes to Whitney Houston, though I am sure it is. It was widely reported late last week that Whitney Houston’s Atlanta home had gone into foreclosure. Numerous media outlets (not this one) reported on the situation but “not true” says Whitney Houston’s attorney.Wachovia Mortgage Corp. officials and Whitney Houston’s Atlanta attorney Mark Trigg each confirmed Friday that the singer still owns her Country Club of the South home in north Fulton County.

Trigg said that a foreclosure had been advertised by Fulton County this fall but was not carried out. Houston now has the house up for sale.
“There has not been a foreclosure sale and the account is currently in good standing,” said David Oliver, Wachovia Vice President for Corporate Communications for Georgia. He declined to say when the outstanding payments had been made. That you guys is what they call “spin” FULL STORY

“If it wasn’t for race mixing, there’d be no video girls. Me and most of my friends like mutts a lot. Yeah, in the hood they call ‘em mutts.”

Contrary to Kanye West’ irresponsible comment last week, not all black people call bi-racial people mutts. I am from the hood (kind of), and I have never heard of anyone interracial being referred to as a mutt. Will Reverand Al Sharpton or Oprah please sit down with Kanye? He is getting very reckless.

It looks like Chris Rock and his wife might not be getting a divorce after all. According to TMZ.com the “are they or aren’t they” couple were spotted out and about arm in arm last week at the Living Legends Foundation 13th Annual Dinner. I guess Chris wasn’t ready to separate with half his estate. Or maybe it was that damn Superhead that something to do with it. FULL STORY

Who cares if Jennifer Hudson didn't win "American Idol"? With her performance as Effie White in "Dreamgirls," the big-voiced diva is getting enough critical acclaim to send her Grammy-winning co-star, the fabulous Beyoncé, over the edge with envy.

The film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical was supposed to be Beyoncé's star vehicle, but it's Hudson who's getting the Oscar buzz. Oh no she dit-n't! FULL STORY
