DAVE CHAPPELLE SAYS "I WAS STRESSED OUT"!

"I was being praised for being socially irresponsible" was what Dave Chappelle said on today's Oprah show. Dave talked about how hard the show was to do, and how many people were around him that were negatively impacting his life. He just had to get away, and that is why he says he went to South Africa. When asked about his medical treatment in Africa. Dave quickly responded" Oprah who would leave America, to go and seek medical treatment in Africa??"(Good point Dave). Oprah asked him if he would go back to Comedy Central, and he replied"Only if a deal could be set up so that various charities could benefit from his social irresponsibility." Justin Guarini has a new album called “Stranger things have happened”. I got the opportunity to get copy of the CD, and I must say that it is a significant change from his R&B, Pop album of 2004. Jazz and Blues seems to be the theme of his new album, with a jazzy introduction to the album “Night and Day”. Justin expresses his love for good music while using live instruments which is incredibly refreshing, and a departure from today’s generic sound. “Stranger things have happened”, reflects the growth in Justin’s vocal ability, as well as his passion for making the music that he wants to make. Songs like “My Funny Valentine” and “Just Squeeze Me” are soothing remakes paying homage to the pioneering artist of the past. While others like “I Love You”, and “Young and Foolish” have a nice blues/jazz combination. I think Justin is one of the few American Idol contestant's who strives to make good music, and not just a hit! “Stranger things have happened” stands on its own, as a timeless jazz album that you can listen to years from now, and still have an appreciation for it. This particular genre he has chosen needs a man like Justin to invite younger audiences to appreciate, and understand that not all good music has to be commercial. Buy His Album Here!

CORETTA SCOTT KING...I AM THANKFUL!

They have released funeral services for Coretta Scott King here in Atlanta. I got to thinking about her, and Betty Shabazz, and other strong black women who stood beside historically strong black men. I couldn’t imagine growing up back then. At age 26, everything that I do I take for granted! The “struggle” that has been passed on through the years seems to almost be watered down, and some would even say disappeared. I have lived here in this city for 6 months now, and haven’t taken the time to visit one history center, and show my respect for the pioneers of the past. I feel that since I have been so insensitive to people who have paved the way for me. It is my duty to go and be apart of history, and mourn with everyone on the true loss that we have all shared. I have to stop thinking about this as a “black” thing, and more of a people thing. Mrs. King continued the message of equality for everyone, and I will shed a tear with my brothers and sisters of all races on that day, for we have lost an amazing woman. You kept the messsage going Mrs. King, and for that I say "Thank You"! I encourage all who live in the city of Atlanta to come out on Monday, February 6^th, 2006 and celebrate Mrs. King’s life, and pay respect to one of the nations most influential and strongest woman. She is all our mothers, just like Dr. Martin Luther King was all our Fathers.
