Its official she can’t sing!
Keisha Cole was asked by her pastor to break it down while attending Easter Sunday service (allegedly). And aside from her questionable secular attire, it seams that the angels were not with her on that day.
To me this is the purest and rawest form for an artist to show their chops. And when I say she blew it— just listen to this hood rat shows us all that if “she sings because she’s happy, and sings because she’s free” then somebody better gun down the sparrow so she can shut the hell up.LISTEN TO THIS TRACK-I WARN YOU ITS NOT GOOD!

I will admit not counting Mary J, Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia there aren't any true singers out. With that said if she had of declined to sing that would of made headlines also. So there was no way she could come out a winner. Glad I'm not a celebrity.

boy stop........dont make me look up some Mary performances and show you what off key REALLY is!!!! This wasn't that bad she just needs some lessons, she still stays on key more than Mary ever will.
I would admit, it wasn't THAT bad. I've heard worse.The comparison of Keyshia to Mary I believe is more or so regarding the emotion they convey when singing their songs. Or it could be that they were both hood chicks that could sing. Who knows?

What key was she in again????????????? Okay, let me break it down. You can hear from Keyshia when she first began that she can actually sing. The problem is, she (in the situation) just tried to do TOO MUCH. She figured because she was in church she had to give some big blazing gospel performance.
A SINGER MUST KNOW THE LIMITATIONS OF THEIR VOICE!!
One can have a great voice, yet not be a very dynamic singer (true singers know what I mean by that). Every phrase does not require a run. You have to find your comfort zone (and key) and STAY THERE. Play to your vocal strengths without trying to "wow" people. Keyshia made that mistake and will from now forward be (I think unfairly) judged for her "inability to truly sing".
That "Jesus help me".. she was really saying to herself, "oh shit I am in SO far over my head, these people frowning up at me" (lmao)
The problem is not that she can't sing. She can. You can hear that at the start.
The problem is that she DOES NOT KNOW THE MELODY! I know it sounds crazy that there is a Black person on this planet who does not know how His Eye Is On The Sparrow goes, but here she is! So of course, when you are standing in front of a congregation whose members probably are old enough to remember the Dead Sea when it was still alive, you try to "wing" it. Unfortunately this sparrow's "wing" was broken.
I agree with whomever said Mary J is rather off key! People say she can sing because of who she is. She doesn't sound horrible, but on the other hand she doesn't sound all that great either. Keyshia Cole needs to stay at a comfotable key. Does anyone remember what happened at the BET Awards last year? She literally had to stop singing. And that "help me Jesus" comment was totally a cry for help! She tried to do too much with that song. BAD IDEA! It would help the singing if she got a better attitude. Did anyone see her reality show on BET!?
Mary has been in the game for a long time now she knows how to give you a performance, but to be honest with you, MARY CAN'T SING.
