So it looks like Universal records is trying to pull a “Big Bully” move by sending out cease and desist notices to everyone who’s posting this now legendary video of Akon getting it on with a 14 year old Trini.
At first when I heard about this I wasn’t too pressed because I couldn’t confirm the girls age. However, after snooping around and doing what I do, I have come to find out that—yes everybody—the girl is 14 years old.
In a statement copied Trinidad & Tabago Express here is the confirmation:

Johnny Soong, owner of the Zen nightclub and one of the promoters of last Thursday’s "Akon in Concert" said yesterday that the club has an age limit of 18 years and over.
Soong, who is out of the country, was contacted for comment on the highly publicized controversial dance by Akon and 14-year-old Deena Alleyne, daughter of pastor Dave Alleyne.
"Patrons have to be 18 years to purchase tickets when we sell tickets for our events," Soong said yesterday. "We do check persons IDs. Obviously she got through the crack. It was advance tickets so it may not have been her who bought her ticket but someone could have bought it for her. There were also scalpers outside the venue selling tickets."

I am Trinidadian and we love to wine and dance- but voluntarily and with a partner of choice. There is nothing wrong with going out at that age if you are in good company who will stop you from making an ass of yourself. That girl, regardless of her age, did not know she was going to be bushwhacked by that freak and when he was finished, he said that the trip to Africa they promised for the contest was him..He is Africa. I am not for the action against the girl, however I must say female artists have been doing this type of thing for YEARS. Janet Jackson, Madonna, even Britney Spears... and just because they did it to males and none of the males complained does not make it right. Society is corrupt if ANY artist male or female can get on stage and do what they want! The females in the front row of AKONS video were loving this and seemed to have no problem with it but... when you watch it, it not only looks bad it IS BAD. As an artist myself I believe we need to have more sense and not go off of the crowd appeal.

Honestly, this goes on is most concerts so to me It's not a big deal. Artists entertain, and that is what Akon was doing. Ironically, out of all the people there, a 14 year old was chosen to get on stage. How often does that happen? Anyway, think about Cash Money Ent. concerts and how they would bring women on stage who were half naked...shaking their asses all over the stage. Think about a Jodeci concert....Even Janet Jackson tied a man to a machine and seduced him.....In concerts, at least 1 fan gets to go on stage and gets seduced or serinaded...usher does it, Chris brown does, everyone does it. They all do it differently but it's the same concept. Akon was expressing himself and I'm sure they had her consent before she was brought on stage so...what's the problem???
To the author of this blog: The title of your article is grossly inaccurate and you are using sensationalism to drive views to your under-average blog. The real title should state something about Universal Records being decent in trying to prevent the dissemination of media involving a minor. The label has a right to protect their artist's work and the music in the video is protected by copyright laws. Aside from that, noone on the stage or in the club knew the age of the female. Now that her age has become public knowledge the video could be viewed as indecent due to her age. The dancing in the video is similar to that of many clubs around the world. This dancing too is not exclusive to adult (18+) clubs, teen-nights have similar 'grinding' happinging in their clubs. Now, since Akon had no knowledge of the girls age he is not to be classified as a rapist by any means. Your sensational comments and comparison to R. Kelly are both entirely out of line. However, I can understand the conservative view-point that the type of dancing seen on stage was sexually suggestive. That is solely the extent of that though, suggestive. Noone was harmed and if you continue to disseminate this type of hate speech you are crusifying an innocent man and you should be ashamed of yourself. You are not a judge, jury, or executioner. Akon should'nt be blamed for his actions during that performance in Trinidad. A lot of people are jumping to conclusions without knowing the circumstances involved. People need to realise and accept the fact that that kind of dancing and gyrating is a cultural norm in the caribbean. The other issue i have a problem with, is Akon being blamed for doing it to a 14 year old. The club's policy requires a 18 year minimum for acceptance therefore, there is no way he could have known how old she was. Finally, she was only dancing with Akon because she was the winner of a contest. Who was she competing against? Lets give the club management the benefit of the doubt that this was an isolated incident and that she was the only under-aged young woman there; that would only highlight the fact that she must have done some really impressive 'dancing'(by her own will) to impress Akon in such a way that he would overlook the other adults who entered this contest. It all comes down to the parents, she is a pastors daughter and so they are trying to avoid the embarassment of having a daughter being paraded internationally in a way that protrays her in a way thats the totally opposite to what he preaches. He should focus all this energy on preaching more to his daughter- her attention is obviously focused elsewhere. Is she really a pastor's daughter or a video vixon in the making?

Toward the end of the video you can clearly hear her say "Oww that hurts." No he didn't know she was 14, yes the parent's should have known where she was, no she shouldn't have been there or dressed like that at 14, and yes he did toss her around like a rag doll. BUT this fool opened himself up for criticism by lying about a trip to Africa in the first place to get people to participate. So his lying ass & her sneaky ass gets what they deserve.
