The holidays are over and the celebrity scandals have already started, and the first one to bust open the gate is none other then Tyrese Gibson, AKA Black Ty. According to TMZ, police are conducting a criminal investigation into allegations that R & B singer Tyrese punched his pregnant girlfriend in the arm and thigh early this morning.
Police sources tell us that Tyrese's live-in girlfriend claimed that the two got into a heated argument around 5:30 AM at their Los Angeles home. According to our sources, paramedics responded after Tyrese allegedly struck the woman, who is three months pregnant, twice and then drove away from the scene. Poor Trevor (Busta Rhymes)! First his baby’s mother leaves him for another WOMAN. Then he suffered an embarrassing flop with the Big Bang. Earlier last year he allegedly assaulted some gays in Miami. And, we can’t forget about his refusal to assist the police regarding the fatal shooting of one of his security team members – Ramirez. But, if that wasn’t bad enough now he’s been thrusted back into the celebrity “loser” fray by being arrested for “allegedly” serving a beatdown to some dude over money. With such bad luck over the past 12 months I just imagine Ramirez’s family standing on the edge of their porch with their fingers pointed in the sky, much like how Celie did from The Color Purple, shouting out “until you do right by us, everything you think about is going to fail”. ard nomination seems almost eminent for Ms. Jennifer Hudson. She already received a Golden Globe nomination for her superb performance as Effie White in the hit movie — “DreamGirls” And, now she can celebrate even more as her acting peers have nominated her for her riveting performance. If you’re familiar with award shows, particularly movie awards, then you know that usually when an actor garners such prestigious acknowledgements it usually brings home the BIGGEST acting prize. Let’s see what happens. I have my fingers crossed. Though, its great news for Jennifer, and Eddie, Beyonce failed to garner a nomination proving that she might need to hit her acting chops a little bit harder. A federal judge yesterday temporarily froze movement of O.J. Simpson's assets until he decides the fate of a bid by murder victim Ron Goldman's family to get the dough the ex-football star was paid for his failed "If I Did It" book and TV deal.
The Goldmans sued Simpson last month, alleging his pact with News Corp.'s ReganBooks and Fox network was a fraud.
They contend he unlawfully funneled his estimated $1 million paycheck to a dummy corporation to duck paying them and other creditors, including American Express. FULL STORY
Hip Hop Weekly, the gossipy-rap-tabloid that is sure to get both founders and sexual harassers Ray Benzino and Dave Mays shot, need to learn how to attribute sources, especially when they just thieve content without consent. In Issue 4 of their piss poor-cheapest paper to ever be printed on-rumor rag, they straight jacked a whole page of quotes and didn’t give any credit or ask for permission to reprint it. They lifted the now infamous Lil Wayne interview we did in our last issue for their ‘Word On the Street’ section (pg. 16). Word for word they reprinted quotes with no credits and definitely no green light from us. FULL STORY
Let me just say that I have dealt with HHW (Hip-Hop Weekly) on a professional level and haven’t experienced any negative situations from anyone on the HHW staff. If anything I have gotten strong support and encouragement that I never expected after receiving such negative feedback from a few of my writing colleagues
I have personally interviewed Dave Mays for this site and he left me, and still leaves me, with the utmost impression that he’s just a man about his business. Whether, you like Bezino and Dave or not really doesn’t matter a hill of beans in the publishing world.
Let’s keep it real, and I hate to say this, but black publications are 75% shady in their business practices. I’ve written for black and non black magazines so I feel like I can make such a bold statement. For magazines to call one another out is really the pots calling the kettles black. It is what it is in the publishing world. Please don’t be fooled. I’m not on anybody’s side, becuase I’m the H.N.I.C. at this spot, but I have to call it like I see it.
SCARY Spice, Mel B has hired a top Hollywood lawyer to fight comic Eddie Murphy in the courts. The 31-year-old has called in legal veteran Don Engel to take on the funnyman, who has denied he is the father of her unborn child.
Engel, who charges $500 an hour, has represented heavyweight artists including Cher, Meatloaf and Fleetwood Mac.Mel has vowed to get every penny she can from the 45-year-old actor who she began dating six months ago.She was dumped after he claimed in an interview on Dutch TV that they were no longer an item.
