JENNIFER HUDSON SINGS "AND I AM TELLING YOU" LIVE!!!!

Resident Jennifer Hudson hater, and my friend Clay Cane (ClayCane.net) found one of the most sought after performances of the year (did I just oversell it?) O1lt.com favorite and Academy Award Winning Actress, J-Hud tore it down at Clive Davis’s annual Pre-Grammy Party, with her rendition of “And I’m Telling You”.
I loved the performance! I know that a lot of people have seen the original powerhouse – Jennifer Holiday – sing this song with ease, even after downing a 2 liter bottle of soda right before hitting the stage. But, I can’t think of anyone in today’s music who could come as close as J-Hud did. Beyonce, for damn sure cant do it, and that’s just the truth.
Here is the performance. Watch Jennifer work the stage, and wow the crowd. She seems to already be a pro as she brings her fans to their feet with cheer and excitement.

I respect both ladies as entertainers- but right now I am totally in awe of Jennifer Hudson. She has proven herself to be a true professional in all she has achieved in the last year- her perforance in Dreamgirls- the way she carried herself all through the awards season- and her being so gracious and humble. Quite an accomplishment for a newbie on the Hollywood scene. I have read your friend Clay's posts a number of times- and I find he only rallys for his chosen few. I was wondering why he did not post the current video of Ms. Holliday- and only offers the one from 1987. I guess the answer to that question, is my answer to your question! I enjoyed your post- and I agree with you- it is a Grand performance by Jennifer Hudson.
She did a good job but not as good as Jennifer Holiday did at the 1987 Tony's. How come you guy's didn't post that performance. That was when she was in her hay day as Jhud is now so those are the two that should be compared. Even thought I still think Holiday did it better in this performance than Jhud. Jhud has a great voice but still needs practice she looked like if she had to sing for another 30 seconds she wouldn't have made it and her voice got shacky there at the end but It was still a good performance.
Jennifer Hudson does a very good rendition of the song ,but it will never be as powerful as Jennifer Holidays version.(and yes I have heard and seen her perform it at many different places over the years. People totally forget that she made the song what it is. I give Jennifer Hudson her props, shes doing her thing now but you can not forget who the originator is, and respect is due. Obviously its Jennifers Hudsons time to shine, and I certainly hope that she continues to live up to the hype ,because the industry has a way of placing newbies on a pedestal very high ,only to attempt to tear them down. I wish her well and Im happy for her success. Naturally she is humble NOW , lets hope she remains humble.She is afterall new .
How can anyone even think J hudson can sing Holiday song better than her.Holiday song it with passion and power, J hudson just tried to copy it because it was so good. I think people are going overboard with thid J Hudson stuff now, the media is making me really dislike like this girl more and more. I didn;t think she deserved to win an oscar for the 2 minute s hit she done but to try and compare her with the oringal dreamgirl she can drop dead first.
