O1LT.COM "HOT AND BLACK" NEWS RECAP-WENDY WILLAIAMS/BEYONCE/SHUG KNIGHT/LL COOL J!!!
By LT Dinwiddie
Jawn Murray from AOL Black Voices caught up with one of my entertainment hero’s Wendy Williams recently and got her to talk about everything from Method Man, and Puffy, to Whitney and Bobby. It was a pretty interesting article, although I listen to her show frequently so she didn’t say anything she hasn’t already said beforeFULL STORY
Random Thought….
As we embark on the new CD sales week I don’t think I am going to buy Beyoncé’s new album ‘B-Day’. After two OK singles, I don’t have that excitement that I had from her previous musical projects. Maybe this is the classic situation that always tends to happen with celebrities. We build them up just to tear them down. Maybe I am not pressed because I know in December its going to be ‘B-Day” all over again with the DreamGirls movie and soundtrack coming out. Am I the only one who isn’t at all impressed with Beyoncé these days?
Somebody call the law….
I knew there was something that I wanted to talk about on yesterday’s report but I couldn’t remember what it was, but thanks to MTV for reminding me. LL Cool J was talking to MTV news correspondent John Norris on the red carpet at the VMA’s last week and LL dissed the hell out of Def Jam. LL said he's siding with Fif because he's unhappy with the way Def Jam, the label he's been with for his entire career, is handling its projects. He said the company's music "gotta be a lot better." He also said that Def Jam has a fairly new staff that is running things differently from the old regime, and singled out the promotion department.
Is it just me or was that a slam on Jay-Z? Not for nothing LL, but even if they had promoted the hell out of your album, it still wouldn’t have sold anything. Your album was really whack.FULL STORY
Method man talks about the state of hip hop today. Is Hip Hop really dead?FULL STORY
Beyoncé sat down with Angie Martinez recently and had a lot to say. She talked openly about Jay-Z, and all these gossip blogs (I put myself in that category), to DreamGirls and much more. Check it out; it was a pretty interesting interview.LISTEN HERE
