O1LT.COM REVIEW: "MS. KELLY"
By L.T. Dinwiddie
I got the chance to listen to Kelly Rowland’s self titled sophomore album last night. And I have to be honest with you all, before I hit play button on my Ipod, I got down on both knees and prayed to the high heavens “please dear God, let me like it!”
But it seemed Jesus had more pressing issues, because I can’t say anything positive about this project. It’s become painfully clear, and though I hate to say this, Beyonce carried Destiny’s Child. They have proven that they are nothing without B by their side. Kelly’s voice has no personality. It’s boring, and very unassuming!
Her new CD is dull with a capital D! Each track sounds worst then the one before it. Where’s the passion? Where’s the believability? I hate to compare “B-Day” to “Ms. Kelly” but I really don’t have a choice – you could hear it in Beyonce’s voice that she ran—not walked— into the studio to lay her vocals meticulously on each track.
Kelly on the other hand sounds as if she was forced kicking and screaming.
Miss Kelly is a proverbial flop that has no chance of cracking the Top 10 let alone having any summer time shelf life. I really wanted to like it – I truly did. But I’m going to put it you “Like This”…don’t waste your money.
